A project Ashville Homes begun in September 2009 is a large refurbishment in Farnham Common, the project is being managed by Ricky Sekhon, our in house Development Manager who has been working with us for 4 years. He has seen 5 very high specification projects through successfully and on budget. He works tirelessly to make the biggest savings possible for our clients never wanting to compromise on quality.

When tackling this top-spec build, we have worked with our client to prioritise expenditure, making sure that items at the top of their want list i.e. Hard Wood Windows and Doors, a Bespoke Kitchen and Sto-Rend Specialist Render system are obtained at the best possible trade prices.

Diary of a Large Renovation


SEPTEMBER 2009

The Original Property



Upon agreeing a start date with the client, Ashville Homes begin preparation of the grounds and removal of trees





Demolition of specific areas





Excavation and fill of all new foundations, connected to existing ones with steel bars




MID SEPTEMBER 2009

Begin brick and block work, up to DPC Level



Lay all new waste pipes as per plans



Insert specialist concrete rings into the ground to provide front and rear soak-away





Prepare all internal over sites, and concrete all internal floor bases




OCTOBER 2009

Erect scaffolding and commence block-work inner and outer skin, all insulation, lintels, pad stones and reconstituted stone sills





Details to include live chimney flue, with re-claimed stock brick inner



Steel is fabricated and floor joists are hung



2nd lift begins to get block-work up to roof level





Crank beams are fabricated over Garage to allow for accommodation in the roof area



Cut roof construction begins, exposing old plates and connecting new roof rafters to them




NOVEMBER 2009

Construct dormers over garage, felt and batten all roof rafters, ready for tiling




DECEMBER 2009

Timber windows and doors are fitted, main roof is completely tiled with a Natural Slate before Christmas and the worst of the weather conditions. Internal 1st fix electric and plumbing work begins




JANUARY 2010

Internal works continue, including reducing all existing ground levels to suit new under-floor heating system throughout the house





A specialist non-crack render system is applied to the whole exterior of the house, colour is co-ordinated with stone sills and slates




FEBUARY 2010

Fit electric sectional garage door in contrasting Walnut



Continue internals alterations, erect all internal partitioning, dry-line all walls and ceilings, mist coat all new plaster, insulate and screed entire ground floor






APRIL 2010

Prepare all ground for landscaping, design patio, plant and lawn areas






JUNE 2010

Project finished, certified and handed over to client.
